Visitor Guidelines:
Respect Local Customs: While fasting from sunrise to sunset is for Muslims, visitors are encouraged to avoid public consumption of food, drinks, and smoking during these hours. Naturally, you are welcome to enjoy the food and beverage outlets of your resort or hotel which will be operating as normal.
Dress Modestly: When in public areas (outside of the resort), covering shoulders and knees is appreciated.
Cultural Sensitivity: Avoid public displays of affection.
Business Hours During Ramadhan:
Fisherman Tours & Travel Ltd.: Mon-Fri 8 AM – 3 PM, Sat 8 AM – 1 PM. (Tours and excursions will operate as normal and there will be emergency staff on duty as normal.)
Shops and Museums: Closing by 5 PM.
Restaurants and Entertainment (outside of resorts): Limited daytime service; entertainment restricted (especially in Stone Town).
For Your Comfort:
Dining: Non-hotel restaurants will open post-sunset. Hotels serve meals internally.
Mobility: Public transport and shopping hours may vary.
Evening Caution: Avoid walking alone around the times most people break their fast (6:30 PM – 7:15 PM).
