We wish to advise our trade partners of an important update affecting the Kenya Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) application process for bookings that include travellers under the age of 18.
The Directorate of Immigration Services has introduced a standard ETA Consent Affidavit, which must now be used instead of the previous self-written parental or guardian consent letter.
What this means for your bookings
- Separate ETA per traveller: Every traveller, including infants and children, must hold their own approved ETA. Minors cannot be added to a parent’s application.
- New consent document: For any minor, the parent or guardian must complete and upload the official ETA Consent Affidavit rather than a self-drafted letter.
- Supporting documents: Where the minor’s surname differs from the accompanying parent, or where only one parent is travelling, the relevant birth certificate and/or consent from the absent parent should accompany the application.
- Timing: We recommend that ETA applications are submitted at least three to five working days before travel to allow adequate time for processing.
Action required
Kindly advise all sub-agents and clients accordingly, and use the official ETA Consent Affidavit for all current and future bookings involving minors.
